On March 14, 2024, we received a call about an unresponsive dog found in a backyard. When our staff arrived at the address, they were able to identify a medium-sized white canine lying over a bag of garbage. At this time, they felt the canine was either already deceased or dying. When the officer approached the dog, she lifted her head and started moving toward her with weak and loose body language and tail wagging. “Help finally arrived!” she might have thought.

She showed severe skin infection, with scabbing from head to tail and an open wound in the neck area. Once at the shelter, our medical team performed the initial evaluation and gave her a bath to make her comfortable. After a treatment plan was in place, Tilda was sent to a foster home to continue her recovery.

A month has gone by, and since then, Tilda has enjoyed an Easter Egg Hunt and came to the shelter for a well-deserved and much-needed pedicure. Although she still has a long road ahead, she is doing amazingly well.

Like many other pets that come to the shelter just like Tilda, none of this work would be possible without your support. To help Tilda continue her journey and make sure that other pets can have a second chance to smell the flowers, consider a donation at https://berksarl.org/berksdonates/ and write Jack & Noel’s Fund in the comment.
