Working Cats
The working cat program was designed to place cats that are not suited for life in a traditional home and are instead placed in an alternative environment, such as a barn, warehouse, etc. The cats in the program are not feral but may exhibit certain behaviors that make them ill-suited as house pets. Many shelters, unfortunately, euthanize these kinds of cats due to a lack of placement options and poor quality of life in the shelter environment. Fortunately, we at the Animal Rescue League have been able to create a program that gives these cats a second chance. These cats are placed in our barn and can roam freely in stalls. During their stay in the barn, they depend on us for food, water, and shelter. Having them be dependent is what will keep them coming back to their new home after placement. The adoption fee for working cats is by donation, and we will provide adopters with everything they need to get the cats set up.
