Meet our Medical Team

Dr. Rivera Website

Sarah Rivera, VMD

Dr Rivera was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember.  She studied biology and chemistry at Gettysburg College and attended vet school at the University of Pennsylvania.

After graduating vet school, she worked for a few years in private practice, where she had amazing veterinary mentors and had the pleasure of meeting wonderful clients and their pets. Shelter medicine has always been her passion, and she knew she would eventually end up in the shelter world. “I am excited to be part of the Animal Rescue League and help further their mission through expanding our medical center and access to care for the animals of our community.” Dr. Rivera currently lives in Phoenixville with her cat Roo and her dog Tai. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and reading.

Dr.-Lopez-Website

Elizabeth Lopez, VMD

Dr. Lopez grew up in Hershey, PA, riding horses and saving feral kittens.   She has always wanted to be a veterinarian in order to fulfill her goal of decreasing the population of homeless pets.  She attended Penn State University for undergrad and then The University of Pennsylvania for veterinary school. While in veterinary school she participated in the Remote Area Medical program providing spay/neuter services to dogs and cats on Native American reservations.

Dr. Lopez has explored many aspects of veterinary medicine including an internship in equine medicine and surgery in Arizona, work in a private practice in rural Texas where she practiced companion animal medicine and  provided veterinary care to a local dog shelter,  and mixed and small animal practice locally.  She joined the Animal Rescue League four and a half years ago where she has been happy to provide high quality, high volume spay/neuter services and to help the shelter animals get ready for their new homes.   When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, reading, gardening, and enjoying the outdoors.

Client Reviews

★★★★★

“I recently took my dog for his first wellness appointment at the Animal Rescue League.  The communication prior to the appointment was very good, with reminder and confirmation emails.  Their veterinarian, Dr Rivera, was excellent!  She did a thorough examination, reviewed and administered the vaccines that were due and noted some potential allergy issues with his ears.  Overall, I highly recommend ARL’s wellness clinic, the care was very good, the price was excellent and using this clinic helps support the animals at the shelter, what could be better!”
