Amira, formerly Kamisha, enjoys her new life in a loving home.

Kamisha, Farah, Aristotle, James, Hari, Mama Athena, Cassandra, and Indie are eight of 24 Afghan Hounds that were rescued from a house in the Berks. These eight Afghan Hounds made their way to the ARL after our Department of Animal Protection removed them from their former house. In partnership with a breed-specialized rescue, the other 16 made their way to safety as well.

Arriving at the ARL significantly matted and under-socialized, our animal care and medical teams worked with them to bring them to their full potential and give them a second chance in life. After all the work and dedication of staff and volunteers, we are proud to say that loving families adopted Kamisha, Farah, Aristotle, and James; Hari and Mama Athena were transferred out to a partner rescue; and Cassandra and Indie are in good health waiting to be ready for adoption.

The dogs were able to be ready for their new life thanks to the support of The Mutt Hutt who made sure each one of them got groomed upon arriving at the shelter.
