Kitten Shower – Sunday, April 16, 2023

Between the months of April – October, the ARL can receive as many as 500 cats per month, most of them kittens under the age of 10 weeks old. It takes an immense amount of resources to care for kittens until they are of age to be adopted by their new families and we are excited to share the process with our community.

The ARL’s Kitten Shower is free to attend. We simply ask that you bring a shower gift from our kitten wish list as your admission. At the shower, you can expect to meet and greet with kittens, learn about kitten care and why spring and summer are so taxing on animal shelters, and you can also see demonstrations on how to care for bottle babies and underage kittens through our foster program. We will even have kitten-themed games and chances to win prizes!

Pet Portrait FUNraiser call for artists begins May 8, 2023

Calling all artists AND pet parents! We’re looking for artists to grab their pencils, pens, chalk or paints, and prepare to create a stunning (or, well, to-the-best-of-your-ability) pet portrait! AND, we’re looking for pet parents wanting to commission these artists by submitting a $30 donation and a photo of their beloved pet!

The voting round for best portrait kicks off on Saturday, June 24th at 11:00AM at our pop-up pet portrait art show (location TBA).

Mingle at the Museum – Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 6:00 PM at Reading Public Museum

Join us for a come-as-you-are scavenger hunt style event featuring delicious food stations, entertaining music, and more. Attendees will move through the exhibits and enjoy diverse culturally inspired food stations with access to a cash beer and wine bar. Learn more here.
