He may be 12 years old, but Loyd is still as spritely as can be!

Loyd thanks you. At 12 years old, the chihuahua was found abandoned in a cage inside of his finder’s new home upon moving in. Proving to be full of surprises, after giving him food and care, his finder quickly became worried when she found a large mass on his neck.

Once he arrived at ARL, our medical team examined him, expecting he may be in rough shape and at risk due to his mass. While we unfortunately received the news that the mass was cancerous, we were at least relieved that it was able to be surgically removed it in its entirety and that Loyd was otherwise very healthy and spritely.

We may not know what happened to him before he came to ARL, but we do know Loyd’s fighting spirit and happy-go-lucky personality is awe-inspiring. That’s why we weren’t surprised that it didn’t take long for him to find a loving family who wants to support him through the rest of his golden days and ensure his well-being. Now, he is settling into his new home, and he never has to worry about being left behind again.
