Kip thanks you. A beautiful Great Pyrenees, Kip often stole the hearts of potential adopters with his handsome looks, but for over half a year, he had been passed up at the shelter time after time at no fault of his own.
Not only is owning a two-year-old large livestock breed like Kip a serious commitment, but he had also been suffering from chronic Lyme’s disease and a severe skin infection. That means above his need for consistent training and exercise as a young livestock breed, he would require extensive ongoing medical treatment by his new caregivers.
Kip may have waited longer than most pets for his new home, but his patience was worth it when a couple from out-of-state drove all the way to ARL just to meet him. It was love at first sight, to the point where Kip left the shelter wiggling all 90 pounds of himself in sheer excitement.
Kip, now named Ruprecht, has quickly become smitten with his new family, even his cat sibling who is a small fraction of his size. His new family shares that he loves to play and run in his new yard, and what’s even more incredible news is that his skin condition has rapidly improved since going home!
Although Kip’s story is unique, his need for your support is just like every other animal that we welcome into the shelter every day. Your support helps pay for the long-term care of animals just like Kip.
