Gertrude thanks you. When her family suffered from a tragic house fire and had nowhere else to take their guinea pigs, they brought them to the shelter to find a new home.
While the other three guinea pigs were male, Gertrude was the only female, so it wasn’t much of a surprise when we discovered she was pregnant. Thankfully, she was as healthy as could be, and we found a supportive foster family who cared for her throughout her pregnancy. A few weeks later, Gertrude safely delivered two healthy babies!
While her foster family cared for them over the next few weeks, they decided that Gertrude and her babies were meant to be a part of the family, and they were officially adopted this past February! Her new family shares that everyone is settling in well, and Gertrude loves spending time with her babies, now named Squeak and Penny, who love to snuggle and play together.
