All adopters must complete the ARL’s standard adoption process, including an adoption profile and a conversation with an adoption counselor to ensure the best match for your home, family, and lifestyle.

Please Note:
Dog adopters are required by Pennsylvania law to purchase a dog license at the time of adoption ($11.30).
Cat adopters should bring a secure cat carrier (or purchase one from the ARL for $5).
Dog adopters should bring a collar and leash, or purchase them at the ARL.

As part of the ASPCA’s Rescue Effect campaign to place more animals into loving homes, ASPCA has granted funding to support essential services that help prepare animals for adoption, including spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, daily care, medical treatment, marketing, and other adoption-related needs. These resources play a vital role in ensuring pets are healthy, ready to find homes, and able to begin their next chapter with adoptive families.
