Duck had no idea at the time this photo was taken in his foster home that he would continue to snuggle on this couch for the rest of his days.

Duck thanks you. After he was found taking a nap in his finder’s backyard appearing underweight and exhausted, we imagined he had already endured a long adventure. But we had no idea he would still have a nearly seven-month journey ahead of him before finding his forever home.

Unfortunately, Duck was getting passed up time and time again at the shelter because he was struggling with anxiety that led to behavior issues, of which were amplified thanks to his chronic stress at the shelter. While our canine behavior team worked with him every day on skills such as staying calm around strangers and refraining from jumping, we decided to place him in foster care after five months of waiting for a home to help him fully decompress.

As we expected, Duck began to flourish in his foster home, where he continued to receive daily training with his family. As he continued to settle in and master new skills, there was just one part of his story that needed to be made right: Duck’s foster family had fallen head over heels for him, so this October, they made it official and adopted Duck into their flock!
