Saturday, May 25 - Vaccine Clinic at the ARL

1:00pm - 2:30pm

Lower side entrance

 

The ARL offers low-cost vaccinations on the 4th Saturday of the month from April through October.

Costs:

- Rabies or distemper combo - $9

- Bordetella (kennel cough) - $11

- Lyme - $24 for first vaccine and $17 for second/booster (Lyme is a series of 2 vaccines when first administered)

 

Any credit card payments must first be made at the front office and receipt presented at the clinic.


 

Tuesday, June 4 - Dog Walkers' Orientation Class

6:30pm in the ARL's Education Room

 

Effective January 1, the ARL has upgraded our volunteer dog walking policy. We are now using a color coding system. All volunteer dog walkers will be able to walk the dogs labeled “green.” In order to walk the dogs labeled “purple,” you will need to attend one of our volunteer orientation classes. Once completed, then you will be allowed to walk both “green” and “purple” coded dogs.

This program is being started for the sake of both our volunteer walkers and our animals. We appreciate your understanding and your continued dedication to our animals here at the shelter!

Saturday, June 8 - Waggin' at the Westy!

279 West State St, Hamburg

 

Come out for a day of events to benefit the ARL and CatWorks:

 

- Dog adoptions, noon - 4:00pm

- Raffles and auction prizes

- Scavenger Hunt, 4:00pm - 7:00pm (adults only $10 per person). A list of places to stop between Hamburg and Shoemakersville will be given. Bring your camera or camera phone to prove everything on the list was done. Designated drivers required as alcohol will be served. Prizes for 1st and 2nd place,

Saturday and Sunday, June 15 and 16 - Annual Open House and Adopt-a-thon!
9:00am - 9:00pm each day

 

This event is an annual tradition at the ARL! We will be open for 12 hours both days with lots of great adoptable pets, auctions, raffles, food and baked goods for sale, and other fun family activities.

Friday, June 28 - 2nd Annual Golf Outing for the Animals

Reading Country Club

1:00pm shotgun start

 

Course competitions, buffet dinner and awards at 5:30pm.

Saturday, September 7 - Pub Night at Bistro on Bridge

Bistro on Bridge restaurant in Phoenixville

6:00pm - 10:00pm

 

Join the ARL for its first pub night! There will be craft beer tastings and food pairings, raffles and music by the Whiskyhickon Boys. Tickets are $30 and will be available for purchase as the date gets nearer.

 

Bistro on Bridge is very animal friendly! They even have a "puppy menu"! Proceeds go to the ARL!

**Adoptable ARL Pets at Petco in Exeter: June 8, July 13, August 10, September 7, October 5,

    November 9, December 7

 

**Third Sunday of the month (January - November) - Fairchild Foundation Spay and Neuter Clinic

     Feral outdoor cats only, walk-ins accepted with a limit of one trapped cat.

     For multiple cats, E-mail fairchildfoundation@gmail.com for appointments. 

     Arrive 9-10am.  All cats MUST be in a Humane Box Trap for safety purposes. You must also bring a hard plastic pet carrier with two

     towels for recovery for each cat. Write your last name on masking/duct tape and affix it to the carrier, trap, and towels.

     All cats will be tested for FELV and FIV. If the cat tests positive and can not be confined 100% indoors, humane

     euthanasia is recommended.

     Donation:  $35 per cat (cash or check only) which includes testing, sterilization, rabies, distemper, deworming/flea treatment and left

     ear tip.  ALL FERAL CATS MUST BE EAR-TIPPED FOR IDENTIFICATION!

     Pick up your cat when contacted by Fairchild (between 11am-2pm).

 

**Low-cost vaccine clinics are held April through October on the fourth Saturday of the month from 1:00pm until 2:30pm.

Friday, May 17 and  Saturday, May 18 - Exeter May Days

ARL's Grey Muzzle dogs will be hanging out at Kyra’s bake sale. Last year she raised about $1000.00 for our seniors! We will have information and merchandise.

 


 

Saturday, May 18 - Armed Forces Day Parade

Penn Ave, Wyomissing

10:00am

ARL staff and volunteers will be marching in the parade to promote our Paws 4 Patriots program.

 


 

Sunday, May 19 - KPets Patriotic Pet Expo

Ephrata Park

11:00am - 3:00pm

Come join us as we celebrate our US veterans, military dogs, patriotic family pets, and service dogs. Vendors, food, fun, and blessing of the animals.

 


 

Saturday, June 8 - The Heritage of Green Hills Senior Event

10:00am until 1:00pm

Green Hills is promoting healthy living, which of course, brings up the many benefits of having a pet. Grey Muzzle will have a booth and adoptable senior cats. We are hoping to pair some of the residents with senior cats that day.

American Legion Post 537

First out at 11:15am

Doors open at 2:30pm

Music and food at around 3pm

 

The ARL will have a table with information about our programs and adoptable pets. A portion of the proceeds of the day's events go to the ARL!

 

Memorial Run - $25/per person (Cash Prizes)

General Admission Adult (13 & Up) - $20/ea.

Kids 6& under FREE; Kids 7-12- $10/ea.

Cost includes admission, food, LIVE music and soda/water

Saturday, June 22 - Berks County Kennel Club “All About Dogs” Day

10:00am until 3:00pm

On the grounds of the Liberty Fire Company in Sinking Spring. This is a community effort to:

-introduce attendees to various breeds of dogs

-showcase rescue animals

-offer reduced fee vaccines and microchipping

-show off dog obedience and agility

-offer general information to the public on caring for their dogs

There will be live music foods, and many vendors.

 


 

Sunday, June 30 - Vettes Cruisin' for Pets

11:00am - 3:00pm

Alvernia University (Entrance off of Greenway Terrace)

 

The Skyline Drive Corvette Club holds this annual fundraiser for the ARL. Raffle prizes, food and beverages available for purchase and pets on display for adoption! Music by The Party People.

It's that time of year again to put on your running/walking shoes! Breakaway Sports is hosting a 2-mile run or walk for humans and canines to benefit the ARL. Registration is $20 in advance, the dash starts at 9:15am. Entry forms are available on-line:  Doggie Dash Entry Form

** Gifts 2 Help Rescues - Give a gift that helps animals in need.
